Thermostat, power, gas supply, ignition and control-board testing to find why the furnace will not fire.
Furnaces that click, light and shut off are often a dirty flame sensor or a failing hot-surface igniter.
Limit switches, pressure switches and inducer motors checked in order.
Overheating from restricted airflow, a dirty filter or an oversized furnace.
Banging, squealing or a burning smell checked before the next cold night.
Venting, heat-exchanger visual check and carbon monoxide concerns raised in plain language.
Gilroy winter nights can drop near freezing even after hot summers. Many homes from the 1970s and 1980s still heat with gas furnaces in garages, closets or attics.
Hot surface igniters, flame sensors, inducer motors and pressure switches cause most no-heat calls.
Venting, the heat exchanger and carbon monoxide risk are inspected before the furnace is put back into service.
Bay Area Air District rules will limit sales of new gas furnaces from 2029. Repairs are not affected.
