Fairfax spreads up the valleys of San Anselmo and Fairfax creeks into wooded hills on the edge of the Mount Tamalpais watershed. Most work here upgrades an existing home on a tight or sloped lot.
Cottages, mid-century homes and hillside houses dominate. Many have no ducts, so ductless heat pumps are often the best fit.
Small services and fuse or obsolete panels are common. A load calculation shows whether a heat pump, induction range or EV charger fits.
PG&E delivers power and MCE, which Fairfax joined in 2010, supplies it. Check MCE, BayREN and PG&E directly for current customer programs.

Yes, when it is sized to the house. Shaded canyon homes need more heat than sunny ones, so HAXX runs a load calculation for each home.
MCE supplies electricity and PG&E delivers it. Incentive programs change, so confirm current offers and eligibility with MCE, BayREN or PG&E directly.
Not always. A load calculation shows whether the existing panel can carry a Level 2 charger. If not, load management or a panel upgrade can go on the same electrical permit.
The Town of Fairfax Building Division issues permits and inspections are booked through its building inspection line. Fairfax adopted the 2025 codes with local reach codes, so ask the Division what applies to your project.
