LOCAL DETAILS THAT MATTER

Working on homes
in Redwood City.

One licensed HAXX team covers HVAC, electrical and appliances, so a heat pump, its circuit and the panel are planned together. Redwood City permits go through eTRAKiT.

01

Housing stock

Redwood City mixes older Mount Carmel and Stambaugh-Heller homes, early-1950s Farm Hill hillside houses and Redwood Shores townhomes built on 1960s bayfill. Each needs a different equipment plan.

02

Panels and wiring

Older homes often have small services or outdated panels. The city publishes handouts for residential service upgrades and EV chargers, and HAXX prepares permits to match.

03

Utility and incentives

WestLight Energy (formerly Peninsula Clean Energy) supplies power with PG&E delivery and lists heat pump rebates. The city adds $500 rebates for heat pumps, water heaters and EV chargers.

GOOD TO KNOW

Redwood City questions, answered.

Do I have to replace my furnace with a heat pump in Redwood City?

No. The city's all-electric rules apply to new construction. You can repair or replace a furnace as usual, and heat pumps qualify for rebates if you switch.

Who is my electricity provider in Redwood City?

Most homes are served by WestLight Energy, the new name of Peninsula Clean Energy since July 2026, with PG&E delivering power. Its rebates and programs continue.

Does adding an EV charger mean a new panel?

Not always. A load calculation by HAXX answers that. The city lists $500 for a Level 2 charger and up to $500 for a panel upgrade needed for heat pump equipment.

Who handles permits?

HAXX files Redwood City permits through the eTRAKiT portal and meets the inspector. Emerald Hills is unincorporated, so those permits go through San Mateo County.
